Granol'plus STG (Acrylic Primer G)

Overview

Granol’plus STG is a primer coat formulated on a synthetic resin dispersion with added quartz. It is intended for use as an intermediate coating beneath synthetic resin bonded top coat renders and synthetic resin treated mineral thin coat renders. The product is suitable for both internal and external applications where a primer coat is required prior to the application of acrylic or mineral thin coat render finishes.

Composition

The product consists of a quartz-containing first coat based on a synthetic resin dispersion. This composition is intended to provide a prepared surface prior to the application of compatible top coat render systems.

Colours

Granol’plus STG is supplied in colours matched to the colour of the corresponding top coat render. An extensive range of colour tones is available. Special colour tones can be produced on request. Colour tones with a light reference value below 20% are not suitable for use on insulating renders and external wall insulation systems.

Variations between the processed surface and sample panels may occur due to the use of natural raw materials and weather-influenced drying processes. For subsequent deliveries, any remaining material should be mixed with new material to maintain colour continuity.

Substrate Preparation

Substrates must be flat, load-bearing, clean, and dry prior to application. Loose or unstable material should be removed, and uneven areas levelled where necessary. The requirements of DIN18363, VOB Part C, and the relevant BFS instruction sheets applicable to the areas being treated should be observed in their latest revisions.

Where substrates are considered uncertain or unusual, technical consultation is advised prior to application.

Application

Granol’plus STG can be applied using a paint brush, brush, or lambskin roller, depending on the nature of the substrate. The product may be diluted with up to 10% water, subject to substrate conditions. The material must be thoroughly stirred before use.

Freshly applied Granol’plus STG must be protected from heavy rainfall and rapid drying. Where application takes place in conditions of direct sunlight or wind, suitable protective measures such as covering the façade or scaffold should be implemented. Application must not take place when substrate or ambient temperatures are below +5°C.

Tools and equipment should be cleaned with water immediately after use. Adjacent building elements such as windows and window sills must be adequately protected during application.

Consumption

Typical consumption is 0.2–0.3kg/m² per coat on even or structureless substrates. Actual consumption may vary depending on substrate condition. For accurate calculation, a test coat should be applied to determine site-specific coverage rates.

Packaging and Handling

The product is supplied ready for processing in 25kg containers. Surfaces not intended for treatment must be covered, particularly when applying by spraying. Binders and additives must not be mixed with the product.

Regulatory Information

The product has a maximum volatile organic compound (VOC) content of 30g/L, in accordance with the EU VOC limit value for product category A/c (water-based).
