Lamdatherm Grey EPS
Brand: SPSenvirowallLambdatherm Grey EPS is an expanded polystyrene insulation board for use in external wall insulation applications. It provides thermal insulation with a declared thermal conductivity of 0.031W/mK. Boards are available in square-edged and pre-routed formats in a range of thicknesses. Suitable for installation within adhesive and mechanical fixing systems or within TS Rail frameworks as part of an external wall insulation build-up.
Lambdatherm Grey EPS is an expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation board manufactured in accordance with BS EN 13163 and supplied in a range of formats for external wall insulation applications. The material comprises polystyrene containing trapped air and is supplied in grey/black or white tones. The product is CFC, HCFC and HFA free.
The declared thermal conductivity is 0.031W/mK. Boards are produced to densities appropriate to the external wall insulation system being installed. Available dimensions include 1200x600mm square-edged boards (20–250mm thickness) and 500x500mm pre-routed TS Rail system boards (50–200mm thickness).
Applications
The boards are intended for external wall insulation systems. They may be adhered, mechanically fixed, or installed within a TS Rail framework, depending on project requirements. Once fixed, the insulation is overlaid with a basecoat, reinforcement mesh, and render system in line with the system provider’s specification.
The insulation provides a supporting substrate for subsequent render layers. Fire breaks using mineral wool may be required depending on building height and compartmentation design. Guidance for fire break installation should be obtained from SPS Envirowall or the project specifier.
Installation Considerations
Substrates must be suitable, stable, clean and dry. Loose render should be removed or smoothed. Boards must be installed firmly against the wall with no gaps between adjacent units. L-shaped boards are required at window and door openings to reduce joint lines.
Boards should be fixed using a stagger bond pattern, with alternate interlocking at building corners and openings. Insulation boards smaller than 200mm in height or width should be avoided where possible, except where constrained by site conditions. Additional mechanical fixings are required at 300mm centres at building corners and around openings. The fixing embedment depth is subject to pull-out testing. Fixings must sit flush with the insulation surface.
Pre-routed TS Rail boards are fitted within the rail framework. A central mechanical fixing may be required depending on project height and location. Fire stops are usually incorporated at floor levels and along vertical zones to support compartmentation.
The insulation can be cut to size and rasped to achieve a flat plane or shaped for curved façades.
Product Characteristics
The board meets or exceeds relevant requirements of BS EN 13163 where referenced. Additional grades may be manufactured for specific applications and include unique colour markings for identification.
Technical performance parameters include compressive strength at 10% deformation (CS(10)70: 70kPa), tensile strength (dry and wet conditioned TR200), bending strength (BS115: 115kPa), reaction to fire (Euroclass E), and water-related performance including long-term water absorption WL(T)4. Vapour-related data includes a water vapour diffusion resistance factor (µ) of 20–40 and vapour permeability values between 0.015 and 0.030mg(Pa·h·m). Dimensional stability under specified conditions is classed as DS(N)2 and DS(70,90)1.
Nominal density is 15kg/m³ and water absorption by immersion (partial) is 0.31kg/m².
Handling, Storage and Disposal
Boards should be stored above ground level in a clean, dry location and kept protected. Safe handling guidance is available in the Material Safety Data Sheet. Recycling schemes are available through SPS Envirowall, and disposal must follow local requirements.
