Overview
The Refina Superskim Spatula is a hand tool for finishing plaster and similar surface coatings. It incorporates a flexible 0.3mm stainless steel blade mounted within an ergo grip plastic frame.
The blade profile includes radiused corners and a progressive cutaway design intended to support smooth finishing across plaster surfaces. The tool is used during the flattening and finishing stages of plaster application and can also be used with drywall compounds and airless plasters.
Blade Construction
The spatula is fitted with a flexible stainless steel blade with a thickness of 0.3mm. The blade incorporates a progressive cutaway profile and radiused corners to reduce the likelihood of leaving lines during finishing.
The blade design distributes pressure along the length of the blade during use, assisting with the flattening and smoothing of applied plaster layers.
Frame and Grip
The blade is mounted in a rigid plastic ergo grip frame incorporating finger grooves for hand control. The plastic frame construction does not draw warmth from the hands when used in colder conditions, unlike metal frame alternatives.
The frame uses a honeycomb plastic profile to reduce overall weight. End caps are welded to secure the blade, and a guard is included to protect the blade edge and underside when not in use
.
Applications
The spatula is used for smoothing and flattening plaster and coating systems applied to internal surfaces. Typical applications include:
-
Flattening and finishing plaster layers
-
Smoothing drywall compounds
-
Finishing airless plasters
-
Jointing and taping operations
-
Fine detailing work and small areas such as reveals or areas above door frames
It can be used on walls and ceilings and is suitable for both detailed work and finishing larger surfaces, depending on the blade size selected.
Extension Pole Compatibility
The spatula frame is compatible with clamp-fitting extension poles supplied separately. These poles attach to the frame and allow the spatula to be used on ceilings and elevated surfaces without direct access.
