Granol Flexisil KR Silicone Top Coat
Brand: SPSenvirowallPlease allow up to two extra days for this product to be tinted if the chosen colour is not in stock.
SPSEnvirowall FlexiSil Topcoat is a silicone acrylate through-colour textured finish for façade finishing applications. It is vapour-permeable and polymer-modified, and is applied as the decorative topcoat over a prepared basecoat and primer. It is supplied ready to use in 25kg buckets and finished with a plastic float. Suitable for textured finishing on façades above DPC level as part of an external wall insulation system.
Overview
SPSEnvirowall FlexiSil Topcoat is a silicone acrylate through-colour textured finish for use as a façade topcoat. It is vapour permeable and polymer modified, with declared water vapour permeability of V2 and water absorption of W2. Declared adhesion is >0.3MPa, thermal conductivity (λ10, dry) is 0.66W/mK as a tabulated mean value with P=90%, and reaction to fire is Class C, stated as Class O as part of an EWI system.
The product is supplied in 25kg buckets, with a stated consumption of approximately 8-10m² per 25kg bucket. Pallet quantity is 30 units. The stated suitable primer is SPSEnvirowall FlexiSil Primer and the stated finishing tool is a plastic float.
SPSEnvirowall FlexiSil Topcoat is available in a range of colours. To reduce shade variation across an elevation, materials with the same batch number should be used where possible, and any remaining material should be mixed with new material from subsequent deliveries before use on the same area. The product should be applied only in suitable weather conditions to dry backgrounds.
Preparation
The basecoat should be allowed to dry and shrink for approximately 2 days in good drying conditions before primer and topcoat are applied. The surface must be flat, clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, chalking, or other material that could prevent bond. The topcoat should not be applied to basecoats with a pH above 8. SPSEnvirowall FlexiSil Primer in the colour tone of the topcoat should be applied before the topcoat.
Before work starts, scaffold boards should be swept and, where required, washed clean so that dust and dirt are kept away from the face of the wall. Rendering should be avoided below DPC level, or within 150mm of ground level, to reduce the risk of dampness and discolouration.
How to Use
SPSEnvirowall FlexiSil Topcoat is supplied ready to use. The contents should be stirred briefly so the material is re-blended and the grain is evenly distributed through the mixture. A small amount of water may be added if required to suit the substrate or climatic conditions, but this must not exceed 2%. Adding more than 2% water can dilute the pigment and cause shade variation.
The product should be applied with a stainless steel smoothing trowel to the thickness of the grain size. After approximately 20 minutes, depending on weather and temperature, the surface will begin to skin over and become more difficult to finish. At this stage, it should be rubbed with a 1-2mm plastic float in a circular motion, while maintaining wet edges.
Continuous surfaces should be completed without a break where possible to reduce dry line jointing and shade difference. Where breaks cannot be avoided, they should be formed at services or architectural features such as drainpipes, reveals, or lines of doors and windows to help mask joints. On long uninterrupted runs, batch numbers should be checked before application to maintain colour consistency across an elevation.
Drying and Application Conditions
SPSEnvirowall FlexiSil Topcoat dries by water evaporation. Stated drying and curing time is approximately 3 to 24 hours at temperatures from 25°C to 5°C. Drying time may increase where air humidity is high and/or temperatures are low. Humidity requirement is less than 85% for a minimum of 24 hours.
The product must not be applied when substrate or environmental temperatures are below 5°C or above 25°C. Protection should be provided against torrential rain and against rapid drying. Direct sunlight and strong wind should be avoided where possible, and covering the façade and scaffold can help prevent premature drying.
Cleaning and Site Considerations
Tools and equipment must be cleaned with water immediately after use. Adjacent building elements, including windows and window sills, should be covered before application. Exposed nosings, movement joints and sills should be wiped clean at each work stage. Spillages on certain surfaces can be removed using SPSEnvirowall ETICS Render Cleaner Pure Gold Sku: ESPS/ETICS1.
Storage and Handling
The product should be stored unopened in a cool, dry and frost-free area above 5°C and protected from direct sunlight. It can be stored in a closed container for at least 1 year. Once opened, the topcoat should be used within a short time period.
Additional Product Information
The product contains a biocide for the protection of the cured product and contains 2-OCTYL-2H-ISOTHIAZOL-3-ONE. Contents must not be emptied into the ground, water courses or drains. Empty containers, lids and wire handles can be fully recycled.
