Granosil KR 1.5mm (Silicone Topcoat)
Brand: CantillanaPlease allow up to two extra days for this product to be tinted if the chosen colour is not in stock.
Granosil KR is a silicone-based scratch render supplied ready for use as a decorative topcoat. It is intended for application as the finishing render within Grano’ltherm external wall insulation systems and for use on load-bearing mineral substrates. The material is water-based and contains calibrated grains to achieve a defined surface texture. It can be applied internally or externally using a trowel or spray equipment. Suitable for finishing mineral façades and EWI systems where a decorative scratched render is required.
Overview
Granosil KR is a water-based, silicone resin scratch render used as a decorative topcoat. It is designed for application within Grano’ltherm external wall insulation systems and as a finishing render on mineral substrates. The product is supplied ready for processing and contains calibrated aggregates to achieve a uniform scratched texture.
Composition
The render consists of silicone resins combined with calibrated grains. It is supplied as a ready-mixed material, with the option to add up to 2% water depending on substrate condition and ambient weather during application.
Intended Use and Applications
Granosil KR is used as a decorative finishing render on:
-
Grano’ltherm EWI systems
-
Load-bearing mineral substrates
It is suitable for both internal and external applications where a silicone-based scratch render finish is required.
Colour Availability
White is supplied as the standard colour. The product is also available in colours from the manufacturer’s colour chart. Colour tones with a brightness index below 20% are not available. Due to raw material variation and drying conditions, colour differences between the colour chart and applied render may occur. Where multiple deliveries are used on one elevation, remaining material should be mixed with new material to minimise colour variation.
Substrate Preparation
Substrates must be load-bearing, clean, dry, and free from dust, mortar residues, soiling, and atmospheric contaminants. Prior to application, Granosil’plus STF primer must be applied in a colour corresponding to the selected decorative render. Where substrate suitability is uncertain, technical guidance should be sought before application.
Application Method
Granosil KR can be applied using a stainless steel trowel or suitable spray equipment. The render should be applied evenly and structured using a synthetic burnishing tool, wooden float, or PU board.
Spray application is possible for grain sizes up to 3.0mm. Sprayed surfaces must always be burnished after application.
Connected surfaces must be applied using a wet-in-wet technique to avoid visible joints. On large façades, application should be continued without interruption to defined breaks such as joints or service penetrations.
Environmental and Application Conditions
Application must not be carried out where substrate or ambient temperatures are below +5°C or above 30°C. Freshly applied render must be protected from heavy rain and rapid drying. Measures such as covering the façade or scaffold are required in conditions of direct sunlight or strong wind.
Drying occurs through evaporation and is influenced by substrate absorption, ambient temperature, air humidity, and ventilation. Drying slows significantly at relative humidity below 70% and stops when humidity approaches 100%. Higher temperatures and strong air movement accelerate drying.
Cleaning and Protection
Tools and equipment must be cleaned with water immediately after use. Adjacent building elements such as windows and sills must be protected during application.
Packaging, Storage, and Handling
Granosil KR is supplied in 25kg containers, ready for processing. Containers must be stored in a cool, frost-free environment and protected from direct sunlight. When stored unopened, the product can be kept for at least 1 year. Opened containers must be used within a short period.
Disposal
Only completely empty containers should be presented for recycling. Dried material may be disposed of as hardened bonding material or domestic waste. Liquid waste must be disposed of in accordance with regulations for water-mixable bonding materials. Waste classification code: EAK080112.
