Rawlplug R-TFIX-8M Insulation Fixing
Brand: RawlplugTFIX-8M is an 8mm hammer-in façade fixing with a steel nail for securing insulation boards within External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS). It is suitable for use with polystyrene, mineral wool, light wood wool, polyurethane and cork insulation boards in approved concrete, brick and lightweight block substrates. Suitable for mechanical fixing of insulation within ETICS applications.
TFIX-8M is a façade fixing comprising an 8mm plastic sleeve and a pre-assembled steel nail. It is intended for securing thermal insulation boards in External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS). The fixing incorporates a 60mm plate diameter and is produced in multiple lengths from 95mm to 295mm to accommodate a variety of insulation thicknesses. The product holds European Technical Assessment ETA-07/0336.
The sleeve includes a long plastic overmoulding on the nail designed to reduce point thermal transmittance. Performance characteristics stated in the technical data include plate stiffness, plate resistance and point thermal transmittance, based on the values presented in the product documentation.

Installation Guidance
Installation steps provided in the technical sheet include:

Drill a hole to the required diameter and depth.

Drill to a depth of 35–45mm in approved materials.

Lightly tap the plastic sleeve through the insulation into the drilled hole until flush with the insulation surface.

Ensure a minimum embedment depth of 25mm in approved materials.

Hammer the metal nail into the sleeve until the fixing is secure and flush.

For soft insulation panels, retainers KWL-90, KWL-110 or KWL-140 should be added.
Minimum spacing, edge distances and substrate thickness are specified to support correct installation. These include a minimum spacing of 100mm, minimum edge distance of 100mm and minimum substrate thickness of 100mm.
Technical Characteristics
Fixings use an 8mm drilling diameter. Effective embedment depth across approved substrates is 25mm. Performance data is provided for mean ultimate load, characteristic load, design load and recommended load for each substrate category. Plate resistance is stated as 1.75kN, plate stiffness as 1.0kN/mm, and point thermal transmittance as 0.002W/K.
Recommended insulation thicknesses for each length of fixing range from 40mm (95mm fixing length) to 260mm (295mm fixing length).
